In the past, garlic has been used as a food or medicine by every nation in the world, but for different reasons. For example, the ancient Greeks used it freely in their every daylife, but the athletes at the Olympic Games ate garlic in order to enhance their performance. The Romans gave it to both soldiers and workmen. However, garlic was limited to Europe. In ancient China and Japan, garlic was used as a remedy for high blood pressure, while in India, ayurvedic phusicians prescribed it for rheumatism and to prevent heart disease.
